Description
A string of incidents in the Oakland neighborhood of Haines City ended with a bicyclist being hospitalized and a car crashing into a Baptist church.
The Haines City Police Department responded to the situation on Sunday around 2:30 p.m., the agency said in a news release.
Officers reportedly received reports of possible gunshots n the area of Avenue I and 12th Street North. While responding, they learned that a bicyclist had been hit by a car before a black Chrysler 200 lost control and crashed into the Beulah Baptist Church on 12th Street North.
"The occupants of the Chrysler 200 fled the scene on foot. Attempts are being made to identify and locate the individuals," police said in the release.
Meanwhile, the bicyclist who was hit has been taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, officers are gathering evidence to determine if any of the incidents are related.
