Description
A man died Thursday evening in Sarasota after causing multiple crashes, one of which sent a Sarasota County deputy to the hospital.
It was 5:38 p.m. when deputies first attempted to complete a traffic stop on Cody Burrow, a 31-year-old Bradenton man with an active felony warrant for narcotics.
But after he got pulled over in the area of Beneva Road and Webber Road, Burrow reportedly crashed his gray Ford F-150 truck into a Tesla and multiple deputies' cars.
Burrow then drove off, eluding deputies as he headed northbound on Beneva Road, according to the sheriff's office.
Then, around 5:47 p.m., deputies were alerted about another crash about six miles away at Lockwood Ridge Road and 53rd Street.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said Burrow pulled out of a driveway at the University Club Apartments and drove his pickup truck over the grassy median that separates the north and southbound lanes of Lockwood Ridge Road.
