Description
For the fourth time in as many years, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have a new offensive coordinator at the helm with 34-year-old Josh Grizzard. The 2024 Buccaneers pass game coordinator held his introductory press conference at One Buc Place Thursday afternoon to talk about expectations for the upcoming season.
"The continuity of having the staff and players together is the most important part," Grizzard said. "What we did on the fundamentals we can now evolve to the next level of the teaching of coverages, of D-line technique, [etc.] – that way we can now expand the scheme, continue to add from around the league, add from college [and] continue to put pressure on the defense [as we] try to score points.”
Grizzard continually talked about the idea of putting pressure on the defense. He likes a physical brand of football and believes the offensive line in Tampa Bay will be able to help this team get to, as he likes to call it, "the next level."
"At the end of the day, we want to be physical. We want to be physical because the trenches win. When you’re able to run the ball and you’re able to press on a defense for four quarters, that’s what wins ballgames."
Despite his age, Grizzard has spent plenty of time coaching. After his time at Yale as a student assistant, he spent three seasons with Duke under head coach David Cutcliffe. From there, he spent the next seven years in Miami with the Dolphins under a few head coaches and six offensive coordinators.
"Take the good and the bad, and try to just take the good (from those experiences).”
