Description
In the Winter Strawberry Capital of America, known for its immigrant workers, a demonstration was held to stand in solidarity with those subject to the Trump administration's deportation and immigration policies.
On Monday afternoon, people started to gather along S. Collins Street in Plant City with flags and picket signs, some of which read 'Stop the deportation'.
Similar scenes of solidarity played out across Tampa Bay, the state and the country.
"I know the situation is really hard right now," Greyvis Ortiz said. "There's some people, bad people, that need to go back to their homes like Trump says. But there's some good people here. They come to this country to work really hard and just step by step going forward."
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has stood firm on its crackdown.
Since taking office, President Donald Trump has signed at least 10 orders and actions on immigration.
This includes empowering deportation offers to target most undocumented immigrants as well as those without criminal records.
"Tens of millions of people have poured across this border under Joe Biden's administration, unchecked," U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said. "We have no idea who they are. We have no idea where they're coming from. We have no idea what their intentions are."
