The Barrier Islands are turning to President Donald Trump for help. They're sending a letter in unity in hopes of helping their communities rebuild. “It's been a very long four months,” St. Pete Beach Mayor Adrian Petrila said. Mayor Petrila said more than 2,500 homes were impacted due to the storms, and some residents are still displaced. “We've hired dozens and dozens of additional staff to help process permits faster,” Petrila said.
