Description
A student's decision to bring a cell phone case with a fake gun attached sent a high school in Tampa on a brief "lockout."
It happened Friday morning around 9:30 a.m. when police were called to Freedom High School after a student reported they thought they saw another student possibly armed with a gun. That student reportedly shared their concern with a teacher, who in turn notified the school resource officer.
Police, including an aviation unit, responded to the school to do a thorough search of the campus. During this time, the school was in a lockout, which is ordered when there is a threat outside the building and the outside doors are locked and everyone is ushered inside, but it is "business as usual," according to a Florida school district.
