Description
The southbound lanes of Howard Frankland Bridge are closing Wednesday night so construction crews can work on the I-275 new southbound bridge project
A news release from Florida Transportation said drivers headed southbound on I-275 will have to detour off the interstate using State Road 60, exit 39, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Electronic message boards and temporary signs will help drivers travel around this closure with the posted detour route. Other roadways such as Kennedy Boulevard, Dale Mabry Highway and Gandy Boulevard will be open and can be alternate routes.
Crews will install overhead signs as part of the I-275 new southbound bridge project between Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. This project also includes adding more lanes to increase the flow of traffic.
Transportation officials advise drivers to give themselves extra time as traffic might build up.
