A 42-year-old man has been charged after police officers removed an explosive from his home Monday in Auburndale. James David Shows was charged with one count of possessing a destructive device after officers with the Auburndale Police Department removed "a suspicious device resembling a pipe bomb" from his home on Pike Street, the department said in a news release. Officers responded to the home around 1:39 p.m. The device was found by an animal caregiver who had permission to access the home while Show was "incarcerated on unrelated charges."
