Description
Two men were arrested early Sunday morning after they allegedly led troopers on a high-speed chase in a stolen car on I-75 in Hillsborough County.
Cinyuanta McCants, 20, and Jovan Williams, 19, were hit with numerous charges, including grand theft of a motor vehicle and aggravated fleeing to elude, Florida Highway Patrol said in an arrest report.
The chase began around 3:05 a.m. after an FHP trooper noticed the two men in a dark-colored Acura SUV "traveling at a high rate of speed." The trooper said he clocked the car at 110 mph in a 70 mph zone.
McCants, who was driving the car, was reportedly swerving the car "as if he was impaired" while trying to get away from the deputy, according to the arrest report. In an X post from FHP Tampa, troopers said the two men reached 140 mph in an effort to get away.
