If you can't make it to the famous ball drop at Times Square on New Year's Eve but still want to experience the excitement, there are a few around the Tampa Bay area. In Sarasota, there is the annual Pineapple Drop. Located at Lemon Avenue and Main Street, a giant lit up pineapple will drop at midnight. The event is free and open to the public and will feature food, drinks and live music. The festivities start at 1 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. with multiple outdoor stage performances downtown. Plant City, which is known for its strawberries, is having its first-ever strawberry drop. It will be a "berry special" celebration with the giant glowing fruit descending from a crane to welcome in the new year.
