Description
A man is being charged with murder after killing his mother, deputies say.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says they received a call before 8:30 a.m. Monday in the area of Beaty Grove Drive in Westchase. They say the caller, 36-year-old Russell Antonio Moore made comments on his mental health.
When deputies arrived at Moore's home, they say he made threatening statements about his mother, 54-year-old Shambray Lavern Levy, during an interview.
Investigators say they later discovered Levy dead inside the home with trauma to her upper body.
"This is an incredibly heartbreaking and tragic situation for the family and everyone involved," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. "Our deputies acted swiftly to investigate, and an arrest has been made. Our hearts go out to the loved ones affected by this unimaginable loss, and we will do everything we can to support them during this difficult time."
Moore is charged with premeditated first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence relating to a capital felony.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
