Description
Jahmir Moore, the teen accused of murdering 14-year-old Jevario Buie, has escaped from juvenile detention, according to the Tampa Police Department.
The agency said at a press conference that Moore was reportedly seen on video at the Hillsborough Regional Juvenile Detention Center around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, but he was discovered to be missing after he didn't come out for a headcount at the facility.
Since then, law enforcement officials said they were able to find video in the community showing Moore running "westbound from the facility" around 10:45 a.m.
TPD said Moore was last seen wearing a dark green t-shirt over a blue shirt issued from the facility, as well as blue slacks and white shoes. Officials added he has a scar on his forehead and is 5-foot-10-inches tall and 145 pounds.
"Community members who see Moore are urged to immediately call 911," TPD said in a statement. "Please do not engage with him. He should be considered a dangerous individual."
On April 17, Buie was found dead near the railroad tracks between Busch Boulevard and Rome Avenue. Police went to the scene after getting reports of gunfire in the area.
His grandfather previously said Buie went near the train tracks thinking he was going to stand up to a bully. Instead, he says Jevario was ambushed and killed.
