The Manatee County Commission passed the resolution by a 4 to 2 vote, allowing Benderson Development to potentially develop parts of the wetlands located in the Cooper Creek area. However, some environmentalists say it's a "very bad precedent for the overall health" of the county and the waterways. They add that it also doesn't address flooding concerns following back-to-back hurricanes.
