Description
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run that left a 43-year-old man seriously injured early Friday morning in Sarasota County.
In a news release, troopers said the incident happened around 3:04 a.m. at the intersection of Albee Farm Road and Colonia Lane in Nokomis.
The driver was reportedly traveling north on Albee Farm Road while the 43-year-old was walking across the travel lanes. The driver struck the man with the left side of the car before taking off, according to FHP.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Troopers say the driver was likely traveling in an Orange Hyundai Elantra with a missing driver-side mirror at the time of the incident.
Anyone with information on the hit-and-run or the whereabouts of the driver can contact FHP at *FHP(347) or Crime Stoppers at (800) 873-8477.
