Description
Five boys, ages 12 through 15, have been arrested after authorities say they hit a 70-year-old man in a stolen car.
The St. Petersburg Police Department said on Monday, Edward Weeb was walking across 9th Avenue South near his home when a Jeep SUV, which was traveling northbound on 12th Street South, turned onto the street and hit him.
The SUV drove away and was later found abandoned a few blocks away, the agency said.
On Friday, investigators identified the 14-year-old driver of the SUV, as well as four passengers in the vehicle.
The driver is now facing multiple charges, including third-degree murder, vehicular homicide with leaving the scene, driving without a license causing death and grand theft of a motor vehicle.
The passengers, who authorities said are ages 12, 13, 14 and 15, are facing charges of third-degree murder and grand theft of a motor vehicle.
