Description
A man accused of stabbing a woman was arrested Thursday morning after officials said he jumped from an I-275 overpass as officers tried to serve a warrant.
The arrest led to both I-275 and I-75 being shut down near State Route 56. Both interstates have since reopened, Florida Highway Patrol said in an X post.
On Wednesday night, the Tampa Police Department responded to reports of the stabbing at an apartment complex off of Hunters Village Road. Once officers arrived, they reportedly found a woman with multiple injuries and "significant blood loss."
Crews from Tampa Fire Rescue were able to take her to a hospital. Police said she is stable.
Just before 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, police were able to find the suspect, 31-year-old Thomas Sapp, in a car on County Line Road over I-275. As officers worked to stop traffic, Sapp reportedly jumped from the overpass and landed on the interstate before he narrowly avoided being run over by a semi-truck.
