Description
An Apple AirTag led Largo Police to a woman who allegedly stole a man's wallet and used his credit card at Publix.
Police responded to the theft and met with Thomas Powell who said his wallet was stolen on Friday night. He said there was an AirTag in it, and he was able to track it to multiple locations. Powell also showed police information from his credit card company that showed transactions at Publix since the wallet had been stolen, according to an arrest report.
Police confirmed the transactions with the Publix manage. The alleged thief bought pre-paid debit cards at the grocery store.
Officers identified the vehicle the thief was driving using Walmart surveillance video. It was seen leaving the store where the theft occurred. The Airtag pinged to the address of an apartment on Washington Drive where police saw the car and conducted a traffic stop, the report said.
