A driver is dead after pickup truck and a train crashed into each other in Polk County, officials say. The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened around 3:25 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Kathleen Road, near Deeson and Spivey Road in north Lakeland. Deputies say the driver of the pickup truck was the only person inside the vehicle. The cargo train was reportedly not hauling anything inside of it. PCSO asked drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes, but the road has since cleared.
