A stretch of Dale Mabry Highway was temporarily closed to traffic following a crash that killed a woman and injured a man, authorities said. The two-car crash happened around 11 a.m. Monday at North Dale Mabry Highway and West South Avenue, according to the Tampa Police Department. A man and woman in one of the cars involved were taken to an area hospital, police said, adding that the woman sustained life-threatening injuries. In an update sent just after noon, police said the woman later died from her injuries. The driver in the other car was not hurt.
