Description
What started as a controlled burn Thursday afternoon at a Tampa park has turned into a brush fire, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.
Around 7:30 p.m., fire crews said they were with the Florida Forest Service battling the blaze at Upper Tampa Bay Conservation Park.
"Due to an unexpected wind shift, the prescribed burn spotted over into another area of the park," fire crews said.
The 596-acre park is located on Double Branch Road off of West Hillsborough Avenue. Officials say the fire involves about 100 to 125 acres of the park.
