A cross-county police chase ended in a multi-vehicle crash that killed one person on Thursday. At about 9:30 a.m., there was a 911 call about a possible kidnapping of a woman. Captain Alfred Van Duyne of the Plant City Police Department said at a news conference that dispatchers believed a female passenger was stabbed and being held against her will. Police found the suspected vehicle and initiated a traffic stop but the driver didn't stop. Police followed the driver and a chase ensued that led to I-4 eastbound before the vehicle exited, and the pursuit was halted. The chase picked back up again when the vehicle was located in Lakeland. At some point during the chase, the woman escaped the vehicle and was not seriously injured. It isn't confirmed that she was stabbed, Van Duyne said. The driver continued before colliding with other vehicles at the intersection of Harden Boulevard and Frontage Road. Several vehicles were involved with several injuries including the suspect. An "innocent" person was killed, but it was not confirmed if they died on the scene or at a hospital.
