Description
A 2-year-old boy was seriously hurt when he was thrown from a car during a crash early Friday morning in St. Petersburg, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened just after 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of 41st Avenue North and 28th Street North.
A 40-year-old woman was driving a Hyundai Accent westbound on 41st Avenue while a 34-year-old man was driving a Chevy Silverado pickup truck northbound on 28th Street.
Troopers say the Hyundai driver drove through a stop sign at the intersection, crashing into the truck.
Both drivers suffered minor injuries along with a 38-year-old woman who was sitting in the passenger seat of the Hyundai.
The passenger's 2-year-old son was "incorrectly restrained" in his car seat in the back of the Hyundai, according to FHP. Troopers say the crash caused the car seat to shift, allowing the boy to be ejected from the car.
