Description
A Polk County Public School volunteer group will hold public meetings sharing information about new state-mandated school start times.
The District Advisory Council will answer questions about new school time changes that House Bill 733 recently mandated for middle and high schools by the 2026-2027 school year.
According to the bill, Polk County middle schools will start at 8 a.m. and high schools at 8:30 a.m. by July 1, 2026.
Polk County officials said schools will adapt to the new time changes soon to accommodate elementary school scheduling.
The first public meeting, as part of the District Advisory Council's "Education Town Hall" series, will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 25 at the Jim Miles Professional Development Center at 4270 Wallace Road in Lakeland.
