Description
A woman in Lakeland is working to get back on her feet after she and her family lost their home to an electrical fire.
But in the face of tragedy, this inspiring woman sees nothing but blessings.
"I am blessed. I am blessed beyond measure," Dawn Brower told 10 Tampa Bay outside her dream home, now charred and filled with ash and rubble.
On Feb. 26, investigators say an electrical fire sparked in the walls of her home. Polk County Fire & Rescue said it took them an hour to get the flames under control.
"The hard part is over," Brower said. "The hard part is watching your house burn. The hard part is feeling hopeless. The hard part is looking at all the ashes and seeing all the things that you love."
But as the walls of her home still simmered, Brower said she witnessed miracles.
"When the fire was raging, the first thought I had was, oh my God, where's the cat?" she said. "They released the scene back to us after the fire investigation was over, and my husband went into the closet to get his hoodie because we were wet and it was cold. The cat was sitting on top of a stack of blankets in the closet. He had hunkered down!"
