Description
A third person has been arrested in the investigation into a non-verbal 7-year-old boy tied to a chair at a Bradenton school.
Police say on multiple occasions, staff members at G.D. Rogers Garden-Bullock Elementary School were caught on security cameras tying the boy's wrists with a nylon rope. The rope is typically used to teach students to walk in a line.
Those staff members include 31-year-old teacher Carina Chindamo, 39-year-old teacher's aide Taylor Internicola and 41-year-old teacher's aide Hydalmy Ortiz, according to the police department.
Officers say the rope was then wrapped around the leg of a chair, restraining the child. During a Feb. 2 incident, he sat on the ground behind the chair for approximately one hour.
"At various times in the video, Chindamo and Internicola were observed sitting on the chair, appearing to use their weight to keep the child from getting free," the police department wrote.
Both Chindamo and Internicola were arrested earlier in the month. Police announced Ortiz's arrest on Feb. 22.
All three women are charged with false imprisonment of a child under the age of 13.
