An investigation is ongoing into a shooting that happened Friday morning at the Sarasota Commons shopping center, according to the Sarasota Police Department. Police say it happened around 11:30 a.m. at the complex on 900 N. Beneva Road. A spokesperson for the department confirmed that one person was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital but did not share any information about their condition. No arrests have been made as police continue searching for the person or people involved. "This is an active investigation," the department earlier posted on social media. Police believe this is an isolated incident with no threat to the public.
