Description
An open door indicator light caused a United Airlines flight from Sarasota to make an emergency landing Wednesday afternoon at Tampa International Airport, TPA officials told 10 Tampa Bay.
United Airlines flight 2434 left Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport for Chicago at 3:42 p.m. but was diverted to Tampa less than an hour later, landing at 4:35 p.m., according to flight-tracking site FlightAware.
Airport officials said the plane landed safely and appeared to be fine. No one was injured. Firefighter rescue vehicles did respond to the airport which is standard procedure in these instances.
FlightAware shows that flight 2434 was set to depart from Tampa just before 6 p.m. to arrive in Chicago at 7:20 p.m.
10 Tampa Bay reached out to United Airlines for a response and is waiting to hear back.
