Description
A man was shot by a homeowner during an attempted burglary overnight at a North Reddington Beach home, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reports.
Deputies were first called at 3:16 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a man standing in the middle of Gulf Boulevard and yelling.
While they were on their way, deputies received a second call at 3:23 a.m. about a burglary on nearby Bath Club Boulevard. They say they arrived at the home to find 51-year-old Robert Jackson outside with a single gunshot wound.
Detectives were able to determine that Jackson was yelling in the middle of Gulf Boulevard before traveling to the Bath Club Boulevard home and using a large rock to smash through the front window, according to the sheriff's office.
Once inside, deputies say he ran into 74-year-old Sherry Treadwell and "began to struggle with her physically."
