Description
911 workers say smartphone operating system updates could be impacting you and your family's safety.
The update on some of the most popular smartphones is creating a surge in the number of accidental calls to 911: “It can be incredibly frustrating,” said Judith Weshinskey-Price, the director at Pinellas County’s 911 call center.
She and her coworkers say it’s been aggravating as more people accidentally dial 911 — calls that now account for one in every five they receive. In Pinellas County, some dispatchers have received and handled more than a dozen accidental calls in a row.
