The Polk County Sheriff's Office has located and arrested a man in connection to a deadly hit-and-run crash involving a 9-year-old boy, according to a news release. Deputies arrested 45-year-old Gilbert Almaguer late Friday evening. He has been booked into the Hardee County Jail and will be transferred to the Polk County Jail at a later date. According to the sheriff, a 9-year-old boy was riding his bike to his friend's house around 4:45 p.m. Friday on Hutchins Road when he was hit by a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The child was reportedly thrown into the neighbor's yard from the impact.
