Hurricane Nigel is on track to strengthen Tuesday after forming early Monday after briefly being a tropical storm. But the hurricane is sending the National Hurricane Center "mixed signals." On Monday, the NHC said forecasters anticipated Nigel would become the season's next major hurricane — Category 3 or higher — by Tuesday. However, due to how large Nigel's eye wall is, aiding with stability, rapid intensification appears less likely. Hurricane Hunters are set to fly into Hurricane Nigel Tuesday morning, giving forecasters a more precise assessment of the storm.
