A person is dead after a single boat crash early Saturday morning on the north side of Lake Eloise, according to Polk County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said they were called out around 6:50 a.m. to the lake in the unincorporated area of Winter Haven after a fisherman said there was a disabled boat in the water that had collided with a cypress tree in the lake. The sheriff's office says they believe the crash was the reason the person died, who has been identified as Michael McCarson, 51, of Winter Haven. His body was found in the water.
