Description
The largest mammals in the world are making their annual Pacific Ocean trek from Costa Rica to California to feed on krill, according to a press release from Newport Coastal Adventure.
Whale-watching vessels captured the images last Sunday and Monday off the waters of Dana Point and Newport Beach.
Boat captains estimated it to be at least 75 feet long with a weight of at least 360,000 pounds. It was seen diving for about 10 to 12 minutes at a time to feed.
The typical blue whale season usually runs from now through summer.
