The process of pumping 252 million gallons of treated wastewater 3,300 feet underground at about 680 gallons per minute has begun. It’s a massive undertaking, but for those who have been working on the site for years, they say it's monumental. "It's such a huge sense of relief, you know, for the community and the environment," the site manager at Piney Point, Jeff Barath, said. "We are now controlling the discharge of process water that has been on the site since 1964."
