Participants in the sixth annual Skyway 10K have probably kicked their shoes off by now as the event wraps up this Sunday morning. Nearly 8,000 handcycles, runners and walkers participated in the 6.2-mile run across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Buses took them from Tropicana Field to the Manatee County side of the bridge and they trekked north to the finish line on the Pinellas County side. The Skyway 10K benefits the Armed Forces Families Foundation with 100 percent of the race registration dollars going toward projects supporting the military and their families.
