Description
People attend a presser in the Tunisian capital on the case of Ahmed Souab, a defence lawyer and former president of the Administrative Court, who was arrested on April 21 for claiming judges were under pressure to hand opposition figures hefty sentences in a mass trial. The Tunisian lawyer was remanded in custody, as his son Saeb told journalists his father is suspected of terrorism "based on a metaphor." The lawyer was arrested after saying that "knives are not on the necks of detainees, but on the neck of the judge issuing the ruling," criticising political pressure judges were allegedly under.
