Desperate Ugandans are using poison to kill thousands of migrating white storks for food. "People have no food, so they found an alternative," says Joel Cherop, a farmer and conservationist, who is trying to discourage the practice. Failing crops due to drought is increasing food insecurity in the area says Cherop who estimates some 3000 of the birds have been eaten by the villagers since the start of this year alone.
