Images of ultra-fast-charging EV systems by Chinese firms CATL and BYD on display at Shanghai auto show. Chinese battery giant CATL this week launched a new sodium-ion battery which it says will restructure the electric car industry, and a new system to combine two battery technologies into one car. Chinese rival BYD also unveiled a battery charging technology last month, which it says adds 250 miles of range in five minutes, outpacing Tesla’s Superchargers, which take 15 minutes to add 200 miles.
