Description
Story originally aired Sept. 9, 2015. Mike Hoss looks back on the 50th anniversary of Hurricane Betsy. A storm considered 'the' storm to hit New Orleans - until 10 years ago.
More than 50 years after Hurricane Betsy made landfall in southeast Louisiana, researchers say the devastating storm may have been more powerful at landfall than originally thought.
In total, 75 people were killed by the storm in Louisiana and Florida, and Betsy became the first-ever hurricane to cause $1 billion in damages to the United States.
