Description
The traditional Celtic Beltane Fire Festival, which takes place every year on Calton Hill in Edinburgh, Scotland, marks the end of winter and the beginning of summer. In an elaborate display of costumes and body paint, participants dance and celebrate through the night from April 30 to May 1. "It’s a bit crazy, a bit naughty, but I love it all: the music, the drumming, the dancing, the folklore, the connection with the past", says Sarah, a social worker who takes part in the festivities.
