On patrol in the Peruvian Amazon, members of the indigenous Shipibo-Konibo community carry bows and arrows and a colossal task: to protect the rainforest from "invaders" like loggers and coca farmers. "We approach people peacefully like this but if someone gets a bit rebellious... for a reaction there is an action," says guard leader Abner Ancon, interviewed after stopping a family from cutting timber from a tree.
