Description
Tatu City on the outskirts of Nairobi looks like a success. Aside from residents, and businesses attracted by it’s low-tax status, it got the attention of some local politicians as well who saw it as a target for extortion, and made “a number of attempts to slow down the project,” says Preston Mendenhall, chief operating officer of Rendeavour, the company behind the development, which pushed back- a rare tactic in Kenya. “With all the facts on our side, in time, the project continues unimpeded,” says Mendenhall.
