The father of detained Venezuelan asylum seeker Merwil Gutierrez still doesn't understand how his 19-year-old son ended up in El Salvador's notorious Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT). Gutierrez was among 200 Venezuelans controversially deported by the Trump administration to El Salvador in March—without due process or any criminal charges—according to his father, who says he hasn't heard from him in weeks.
