Description
In a dusty plot of land on the outskirts of Tawila, a small farming town in western Darfur, displaced Sudanese families queue to receive a meal and fill up their jerrycans with water. "We arrived barefoot and with nothing," says Aziza Ismail Idris after fleeing Zamzam camp last month, which was then one of the largest camps for displaced people in Sudan. More than 400,000 people fled Zamzam in April after a deadly ground offensive by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group that turned against the Sudanese army in April 2023.
