About 20 kilometres from Paris, on a former agricultural plain polluted by a century of sewage discharge from the capital, a forest is coming to life. Several hundred thousand young trees have already taken root across seven municipalities situated between two rivers, the Seine and the Oise. Ultimately, more than a million oak, maple, birch, pine, cedar, and lime trees, as well as other species—including some southern varieties—are expected to grow across the 1,340 hectares that will form the Maubuisson Forest.
