A man was hospitalized in critical condition after being shot by a police officer late Wednesday night following a chase involving a stolen SUV, according to the Houston Police Department. The incident began around 11:20 p.m. when officers tried to stop a stolen Buick SUV near Reed Road and Highway 288. A short vehicle chase ended when the suspect crashed near Bacon Street and Tierwester Street. Police said the man ran from the vehicle, and officers pursued him on foot. During the chase, the suspect allegedly brandished a weapon and refused to comply with the officer's commands.
