Description
There’s a new option for mothers in crisis to surrender a newborn anonymously. The Woodlands said it’s the first city in Southeast Texas with a Safe Haven Baby Box.
It’s a device that allows a parent to anonymously surrender their newborn legally under the state’s Safe Haven laws.
The baby box, available at Fire Station 6 in The Woodlands, is climate-controlled. A mother in crisis can open the door and drop their baby off and it is magnetically locked, setting an alarm notifying first responders.
