After a slower start in the Denver area, a big spring storm moves Tuesday with a widespread soaking rain in the Denver metro area and significant mountain snow.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert for Tuesday. Avoid driving to the mountains if possible, especially Tuesday night, due to heavy snowfall.
The storm pushes in mid-to-late Tuesday morning with rain and mountain snow developing between 8 a.m. and noon. Rain will be heaviest in the metro area Tuesday afternoon and this evening before tapering off late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
Winter Storm Warnings are up for the Colorado mountains for Tuesday and Wednesday, along with Winter Weather Advisories in the foothills west of Denver.
Snow will be heaviest Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night, and travel conditions go downhill in a hurry Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night as well.
