Description
Rookie cornerback Benjamin Morrison had his final season at Notre Dame cut short after a hip injury. Since then, he has been on a mission to prove those who thought he could not make it in the NFL wrong.
"It honestly felt like a lot of people gave up on me," he said. "The same hip that people were concerned about is what they watched on film for the past five years."
The Buccaneers selected Morrison in the second round of this year's draft, believing his hip will not hinder him during the regular season.
"It was very good to see him move around. I think he’s okay. I just think he has to get in shape now, so we have to monitor where he is as far as what kind of program he needs, but I think he’ll be fine," Head Coach Todd Bowles said.
Bowles also believes that Morrison will be a big boost to a secondary that allowed the fourth-most passing yards in the NFL in 2024.
"He’s got very good ball skills. He’s got very good awareness. That’s what you like about him," the coach said.
The Buccaneers' rookie mini-camp continues on Saturday from the AdventHealth Training Center in Tampa.
