Description
Once seen as a leisurely pastime for retirees, shuffleboard is experiencing a vibrant revival in Florida, thanks to a new generation of players — and a local couple helping reinvent the tools to play the game.
The St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, founded in 1924, has seen membership soar back into the thousands, fueled by a younger crowd and growing population rediscovering the sport. Among the longtime members is retired firefighter Alan Rosetti, who jokes that despite his age, he still considers himself "one of the young people."
“I mean, you just look around and you see the people, and they're just having fun,” Rosetti said. “Having a good time.”
Just down the road from the historic club in Seminole, shuffleboard enthusiasts Josh Dulabaum and Stephanie Swain are keeping the momentum going by manufacturing the very equipment that makes the game possible.
